"for you, a thousand times over!"

hassan: "have i ever lied to you?"

amir: "how should i know?"

hassan: "i'd rather eat dirt."

amir: "would you really do that?"

hassan: "do what?"

amir: "eat dirt if i told you to."

hassan: "if you asked, i would."
"but would you really ask me to do such a thing?"

amir: "are you crazy?"

"you know i wouldn't."

hassan: "i know."

this is a story of two young friends who got lost and eventually found their way back to each other despite being worlds away. this is such a moving story and you should watch it.

awake

i haven't been in the cinemas lately. the last movie i saw was the dark knight. me, myself, and i have just been buying dvd's and this was the most recent one i saw.

so ABSOFUCKINLUTELY UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING. shiiiitttt!!!!

how would you feel being operated on while under general anaesthesia yet still feel the whole process? you're paralyzed and you cannot do something about it. you can scream but only in your head.

that's where the whole story revolves in, it seems. a young, very wealthy bachelor weds his well-kept fiancee for three months the night before he was operated on -- a heart transplant. the surgeon who is doing the procedure is his bestfriend. he died on his operating table.

go watch it!

wait, did you think i spoiled the movie for you? well, it's up to you to find out. movie IS FUCKING great, I SWEAR! go grab a copy!

ciao!

a mad, mad world

it was a very long time since i was so excited to watch a movie (maybe part of the reason is that i don't watch movies that often anymore). and most of the time, the in-your-face marketing propaganda does not live up to expectations.

i just watched
the dark knight this evening and my god, the hype didn't do justice to it at all. i can say that this is the best superhero movie i have ever watched. the movie is just brilliant.
the movie takes us into gotham city and reintroduces us to the culture, morals, and ethics of its city
(which i think mirror all the demons society is facing today -- superficial morality, terrorism, politics, and social ethics). though, i was a bit surprised that the mood is not that dark and heavy as almost all of the batman movies were, after the movie you feel just as dark and intense.

the most notable performance were actually of heath ledger as the joker. his take on the joker is by far the best -- completely outshining jack nicholson's portrayal of the same character. he takes us into his character's psyche and sometimes, even offering an explanation as to why he
is the villain. his performance is so brilliant; those nuances like the slight bob of the head, the intensity of his stare, the unconscious licking of the lips, and even those few comic one-liners (which actually has very heavy implications).
what i like best about the movie is the way it tried to explain why batman, the hero and joker, the villain need each other. gotham is so dark, mysterious, disturbing, and mad. as the quote says, "in this mad, mad world, only the mad are sane." role reversals and role redemptions should not be uncommon.
anyway, these are a few of my favorite lines

Batman: Why do you want to kill me?
The Joker: I don't want to kill you. What would I do without you?

(to Batman)
The Joker: ... you complete me.

The Joker: Introduce a little anarchy... Upset the established order... Well then everyone loses their minds!

go watch!

ciao!

the nines

i just finished watching ::the nines:: . paki explain na lang.

i know it's a movie about "being god" and it is something in the line of eternal sunshine of a spotless mind and stranger than fiction with a little theme from one of jostein gaarder's books (either sophie's world or solitair mystery) plus don't forget the matrix (a world within a world).

basta ang gulo. but it's really thought provoking.

*thinks*

*hands,face*

and oh, suki from gilmore girls was there! coolness.

randomness

randomness

dumaguete-ness is still coming up. sorry i've no time to upload them all, i'll try to upload it in multiply if possible.

the other day, a co-worker told me that there was a letter addressed to me. it was snail mail and handwritten in back-to-back pink (yellow) paper. honestly, we had a hard time reading it because of the handwriting and flow of thought. BUT we got the point of the letter. it was from an attendee of a seminar we regularly conduct; a letter of appreciation to us being good trainers.
the letter contained three things: 1. appreciation of our work, 2. she wants to continue her education, 3. preaching - citing instances in her life on how God works.
grabe. nakakataba ng puso. there are people pala that would really take the time out to say how much they enjoyed the trainings/seminars. saya.

and since we're in the subject of work. here's the TDD family.

taken during on of our meetings. crunch time.

we watched rata... ratatu... ratatouw... ratatouille *sigh* last night. IT WAS HELLA FUN.

i'm not sure but i think the story is a bit too mature for younger viewers. however, the story IS good. kainis! ang daming magagandang movies na sunod sunod!

tomorrow's the simpsons! hehe.

++++++++++

listen to amy winehouse! there's a lot of songs to be favorite-d :)

Tracks:

you know i'm no good
me and mr. jones

love is a losing game
tears dry on their own
wake up alone
some unholdy war

in the land of women

in the land of women

one of the few best movies i've seen this year so far. watch it! my fave character in the OC plays the lead. expect some witty one liners.
and i think the girl here is the girl from one of the forgettable horror/suspense movies i've seen.

Devastated over his breakup with his girlfriend, Carter Webb leaves L.A. to stay with his wacky Grandma in her suburban Detroit home, across the street from the Hardwicke family. As Carter struggles to reconcile his own inner conflicts, he is drawn into the pains and loves of the Hardwicke women -- all of whom, in their way, fall in love with Carter, and all of whom, in their way, help him find his way back.

this is the only violent movie that made me not wince but wide-eyed during the whole barbaric acts. an arm thrown, a leg slashed, and a head decapitated can be a wonderful and magical work of art. damn. damn. damn.

ash wed

ash wednesday

i went to mass just today. i haven't even planned it. i heard that it was ash wednesday today and i thought i should go. i guess someone above sent me pam to ask if i was going to hear mass. said i did. pam, along with two of our friends, came to meet me in greenbelt. but bongga and another friend had to leave. as per bongga , said in jest "ayoko magsimba, masusunog ako" so pam and i went ahead to meet sha.

you wouldn't believe the throngs of people inside and around the chapel. i was surprised because there were more people today than every sunday.
when the mass ended we were like sheeps gathered and scattered around the chapel. we could not find our exit. imagine going around the place almost twice just to leave. finally we did, after 15 minutes.
while walking i had a light bulb moment. in a crowd, every individual thinks that they are the lead characters in the story. yun lang.

we ate in avenetto for the nth time again and we met yuri there. we then decided to catch a movie in g4. the epic movie. for all of you planning to watch this, two words: DON'T BOTHER. it is a complete waste of money. cheap laughs. cheap lines. cheap movie. again do not watch. during the movie, all three of them dozed off in most parts of the scenes and i have to be watching because i would not waste my hundred bucks for just nothing. i just had to laugh at their sad and very obvious punchlines. damn.

but i have to say that it was fun being with them. pam, sha, and yuri. we even saw ruffa and mike. thanks guys!

++++++++

i'm getting tired of doing nothing. puhlease. nanglilimos po.

inxs: i don't even know why i'm writing all these. it's as if i have to write something. i know i don't have to. a and another thing, read frank mccourt. both angela's ashes and 'tis. interesting read.

the holiday

kaewanan

grabe gusto ko talaga ng digital slr. pupunta kami ng kaibigan ko sometime this week sa photographer's haven just to window shop and fill their windows with drool. tae.

i watched this nga pala kahapon/kagabi. it's nice. you should see the scene where cameron diaz and jude law are inside the children's "tent." astig.

and one funny part! it's not actually about the movie but one of the ladies behind us. there was a scene where cameron diaz was spying on jude law through a window. and then, when jude law noticed cameron, she immediately hid. not really funny. but when the lady behind us suddenly shrieked. as in humagikgik!!! I. REALLY. CAN. NOT. STOP. LAUGHING. as if siya yung nakita!! maryosep. it was almost two scenes after that when i was still laughing my ass off because of the weird and funny sound she did. basta! you should be there talaga.

ps. i hate it when i write this way.

lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change. the courage to change the things that i can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

ze movie

ze movie
with subtitles and commentaries

as a movie fan (it would be the most appropriate word since i'm neither a buff or a geek) i love the two latest movies i watched.
the curse of the golden (bibe) flower and history boys.
the curse is a massive visual poetry on silver screen. you just gotta love it. and what stuns me (i have no idea if it was purely based on historical facts) is the fact that through all of the character's motives and deception, it's ironic that in the end (SPOILER ALERT!!!) only two are left, the two who started it all, the emperor and the empress. my gulay, this movie kept me on the edge of seat (partly because of the subtitles, i can't eat my burger properly)

historical boys, on the other hand, left us stupid in a good way. amidst it's intellectual exchange of words and sarcasm, i just want to sometimes scream WAIT, SLOWLY PUHHLEASE! (come back again from the top for the second time around) one word, though: NEETCHAAY. lols.

and oh, i lost my wallet just a while back. we were in the cab already making its way to EDSA when the FUCK, WHERE'S MY WALLET drama took place. we instructed the cab driver to go back and wait for me while i go run for only a matter 30 seconds before i reach the cinema (a record i must say). while my legs were shaking and my breath on the verge of exiting my body in a very critical manner, i asked the guard "i left my wallet (breathe, breathe... breathe) can you help me (breathe, breathe) find it? (MORE BREATHS)

"ah baka yun yung nakita diyan, anong kulay?"
"itim"
"halika" while he ushered me to another reception desk and gave me my wallet
"paki-check lang po, bago kayo umalis"
"there's no money to lose, thank you manong..." and i shoook his hand
my gulay, the janitor who found it and the guard who returned should be rewarded in heaven (no money, remember?)

ok that's it for tonight. i know that when i read this post tomorrow, it's still only i who could understand what i wrote here. thanks for decoding.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
YURI!
god bless you always!

ciao!

the wednesday group

the wednesday group

so we still continued the wednesday ritual last night. with abner, jen and yuri, we flocked to G4 to see what's on. we already watched harry potter, in her shoes and prime. the choice was narrowed to king kong and kiss, kiss, bang, bang. we decided we watch king kong.

we ate at wendy's, which by the way i have ben craving for since early this week, and ordered burger and fries biggie size. it was heaven for my palate but hell for my tummy. after the meal, i rushed to the lounge only to find out that the three cubicles were occupied. darn it. then the most disgusting thing happened. "BBHOOOOT, PLOP, BBHHOOOOOT, PROOOOOOOP, PLOP"
it was like a chorale of shit. all three. a trio: a bass, a tenor and an alto. shet kung shet. after hearing (and smelling) it, my "bad feeling" suddenly went away. yay. now i had to endure a three hour movie trying not to feel the feeling anymore. i had to go back to g4 anymore.

got back, usual routine which consists of smoking, talking and virtual tennis. when we got inside the movie house, i regretted doing all that. the movie was jampacked and we had to stand and wait for a seat to be vacant. dammit.

king kong was a visual treat. jackson made sure that in all those three hours, you won't get bored and think about if you left your house door open or if you already fed your pet dog. each part of the movie was wow. there was only one time when we were at a loss. we got inside the cinema a little late so we didn't see the opening credits. and we wondered, "is this really king kong?"

those freakish natives were so disgusting. they like to bash tourist's heads for fun. gross.and they like to bathe themselves in sunlight that they all turned black. just kidding. i dunno why they were all so black. it was never explained. and their human trophies were all over the place. in the middle and the end of the movie, you think: "where are these people now?"

so king kong was supposed to paint fear in each person's faces. but he did not. i don't know but i haven't watched king kong movies before so i found him a little adorable. it's as if i want him as a pet. king kong is such a braggart he's cute. and you feel so much sympathy for him especially in the end.
i just don't understand why anne's bones were not crushed, dislocated and broken after king kong's run and many battles. imagine being hoisted up then thrown back down, they grabbed again, then suddenly shift right, then left. i was literally feeling the pain in her bones. but she doesn't seem to mind. it's may be nice to at least make her a little human. especially in the end when she has to climb the empire state building's zenith.
back to king kong. his antics were funny and half the movie, the audience were all laughing.

that shallow hal guy is still irritating. you still want to crush every part of his body for his arrogance, stupidity and.. well.. luck. if you hated him in that chick flick shallow hal, i guess you'll hate him more here. he's just the character you love to hate - MORE. he turned to be the villain in the movie, which was a surprise because i thought king kong was the villain.

brody was a little freaky though. and baldwin - a little lackluster performance. but wait, this is not a movie critique.

so anyway, king kong was a visual treat and a heart wrencher movie. haha, you just get to fall in love with an ape that in the end, you feel sorry for this big poor ape.

it was the longest time i've ever stood up for a movie. we didn't get a seat. we were standing for three hours! but it was worth it. i'll end with a quote from the movie "... and beauty killed the beast"

ciao!

to there and back

to there and back

breathe.

i just came home and it's almost 3. we were all around metro manila. first, makati, then pasig, then quezon city, then back to pasig, then makati.

i guess i haven't mentioned it here but we watch a movie every wednesday. a good boys' night out. it started last month and i don't know how long it's gonna go on. anyway we watched the fog tonight.

so how was it?
it was a wreck. the movie started out good with all those scary but not so in-your-face-gory-bloody-so-scream-your-lungs-out kind of a thing. the build up was actually good. from the moment tom welling was shown on the boat up to the time when.. well... ghosts actually started appearing. i just thought it's so wrong. ghosts should be ghosts. i mean, they should not be always seen except for some special reason. so seeing ghosts for almost half of the movie isn't scary anymore. you just get used to it. the ending was very ho-hum. what's with all those reincarnating people anyway? it's just so overused.
you might want to scare yourself very much at the beginning because it's gonna be a bore from the middle to the end.
damn this is a bad critique.

we then went to the infamous mr. kebab. abner and yuri and jen all kept talking about it. i just don't know what the fuss was all about. well, when i got there, it's a quaint place. it's open air and that's plus points for us smokers. abner said that an iranian owns it. everything on the menu was so foreign to me. tell me please, what's a burnyayi?
abner was so hyped up to let me try his (and supposedly, theirs) favorite, keema. when i first saw it, it was like your usual sisig complete with calamansi. abner immediately fixed mine. he literally made the ground beef swim in this what seemed like shawarma sauce to me (looks like mayonnaise) and a little of hot sauce. the rice (which also swam in the shawarma sauce) came with butter topping which i thought was, "uh-huh, so when did iranians learn how to use butter?" anyway, i think it's good. the beef was tender and the flavors were awesome. i guess i just didn't let them know that i liked it so they were all disappointed with my reaction. haha. hello, i ate like 2 cups of rice with mashed potato as side dish, chicken steak and a large soda. i was so full! i couldn't even finish my favorite yoghurt shake. in the middle of eating (and disappointment from them haha) i really felt like barfing all over the place already. good thing it was open air so i got to smoke 2 sticks right after. haay. pig. and the best part is it's very, very affordable!
ok, i really feel writing this shit so i made up these grades.

interior - 2 stars out of five. it was a bit messy and crowded. no iranian theme at all.
staff - 3 stars. they were nice but they were a bit slow. i asked for a plastic cup and they gave me plastic bag. how nice.
food - 4 spoons. i only tried one thing. but i guess all the other are as great. i just don't think i'll try the ox's brain anytime soon.
parking - 2 stars. the place was small so parking was also small. fit for 10 cars i think.
price - 5 stars. very. very. affordable. you can do a full meal complete with yoghurt shake for just 80 pesos.
over all - 3.2 stars

haay. now i'm tired. thinking about the stars made me sleepy hehe.

ciao for now!

this pic is funny. guess what's wrong with it.
special mention to my bro daryll who made it.
sorry kathy!

we just watched FANTASTIC FOUR a while ago. it was fun. especially when i get to see rr again after being lost in work for a couple of months now. and macky, too, after he made sumbat his paper i have to make him a collage that usually earns me Php1000 - kidding... i wish.

maybe im feeling bad because i, again, pigged out in the movie house. 2 burgers, a biggie fries and a large iced tea. my stomach is on the works right now and is about to move in about 10 minutes.. how do i know? i really dont.

what a great week, looking forward to the next week. i have to study for my international marketing and philippine history though. midterms on monday.

inxs: i made that thing for my sister. something to do with her kalandian poses.
